Buttress: Embracing Mental Health

Buttress is proud to embrace World Mental Health Day and recognise the significance of this day in promoting mental well-being in the workplace.

In the UK, statistics highlight the importance of addressing mental health issues at work, with one in four people experiencing a mental health problem each year. Furthermore, mental health conditions like stress, anxiety, and depression are leading causes of work-related sickness absence, accounting for millions of lost working days annually. We understand the vital role that mental health plays in the lives of our team members and are committed to creating a supportive, nurturing and creative environment.

Throughout this week, Buttress is actively engaging in various activities to foster mental well-being among our people. On Monday, we kick off with a rejuvenating well-being walk, promoting the benefits of physical activity for mental health. On Tuesday, we explore the art of architectural photography with photographer Gavin Stewart. Wednesday brings an insightful talk on financial well-being with Corinthian. On Thursday we have some fun with Bring Your Own Board Game Lunch.  Finally, on Friday, we host a meaningful mental health talk with a specialist from Bamboo, providing valuable insights and support.

Buttress’ week has been structured around a sense of fun and understanding the importance of mental well-being in our people. We recognise that mental well-being is an all-year-round activity and are proud that all our senior leadership people in the studio have recently undertaken training in positive mental health and awareness of ill mental health training.  This is in addition to our commitment to increasing the number of mental health first-aiders each year.

We encourage anyone, at any time of the year,  who may be struggling to reach out and talk; we are here to listen, support, and ensure the well-being of our team.
