The Depot, a new housing development in Manchester’s Moss Side, has been awarded the Excellence in Community Investment Award at this year’s Chartered Institute of Housing Northern Housing Awards.

Designed for Rowlinson Constructions, the scheme involved the redevelopment of a former bus depot into a housing scheme providing more than 300 new homes, ranging from rented apartments to three- and four-bedroom family houses. Also provided within the scheme are later living housing options including extra care housing and apartments for the over 55s, designed in line with HAPPI principles.

David Chilton, managing director, Rowlinson said: “As well as recognising all the hard work that is going into delivering The Depot, this award acknowledges what we set out to achieve in terms of a truly integrated development. This means a greater choice of housing for the community with affordability, adaptability and a strong sense of design at its heart.”
