Jarron Developments has submitted a planning application to Sheffield City Council for a new ten-storey, 161no. residential apartment scheme in Sheffield, marking a significant addition to the city’s expanding urban living offer.
The proposed development, Kelham Point, has been designed by Buttress Architects and will deliver a collection of high-specification one and two-bedroom apartments aimed at young professionals and city-centre renters.
The submission marks a further step in the developer’s expanding northern footprint, following the recent securing of planning permission for the Metalworks scheme in Liverpool. With Kelham Point now entering the planning system, Jarron’s pipeline has grown to more than 1,500 homes across the North of England, underlining its ambition to scale its presence across major regional city markets.
Kelham Point is positioned within walking distance of Sheffield’s principal business, retail, and cultural districts, reinforcing Kelham Island’s role as one of the city’s most desirable residential neighbourhoods.
Set across ten storeys, the scheme has been conceived as a contemporary architectural response to the area’s distinctive industrial heritage. Buttress’ design approach seeks to combine strong architectural form with carefully considered materials and detailing, ensuring the building complements the established character of Kelham Island while introducing a confident new presence to the skyline.
In line with evolving occupier expectations, the scheme will incorporate a comprehensive suite of state-of-the-art resident amenities. Plans include a rooftop terrace with panoramic views across the city, a private dining suite, a residents’ lounge, dedicated co-working space and a gym. The amenity provision is intended to support flexible working, wellbeing, and community-building within a single, integrated residential environment.
Ben Tabiner, Buttress director said:
“We are excited to work closely alongside Jarron Developments in the regeneration of Kelham and the surrounding area. This residential scheme contributes to the on-going urban renaissance of Sheffield and represents a key turning point in the city’s development which we are proud to support.”
Will Clarke, Development Director at Jarron Developments, said:
“Kelham Point represents a landmark opportunity to deliver a best-in-class residential scheme in one of Sheffield’s most dynamic districts. Working with Buttress and the wider design team, we have designed a development that responds to the growing demand for high-quality city living, while respecting and enhancing the distinctive character of Kelham Island.
Our ambition is to create homes that elevate everyday living, combining good quality design, high specification, and meaningful amenity provision in prime city locations.”
Kelham has become one of the UK’s standout urban regeneration stories, underpinned by its independent food and drink scene, expanding creative and digital sectors, and proximity to Sheffield city centre. Continued residential demand and rental growth have reinforced its appeal to developers targeting amenity-led, design-focused schemes.
A decision on the application is expected in April this year.
