We are pleased to announce six new promotions at Buttress, reflecting our commitment to recognising talent and passion for architecture across our staff.
Lucy Brackenbury, Tammy Welz, Lucy Ashcroft, Heather Leeson, and Sebastian Drayson have been made Associates – stepping into leadership roles across a range of teams and sectors, while Patrick Boyd has been promoted to Senior Architect within the residential team.
Commenting on these promotions, Gavin Sorby, managing director, said: “Each one of these promotions is incredibly well-deserved and each have demonstrated the skills, maturity and awareness needed to take on the increased responsibility.

Lucy is a creative associate who has an in-depth knowledge of building conservation and urban regeneration.
Lucy Brackenbury
Lucy is an enthusiastic and creative architect who specialises in projects that have a strong community emphasis.
Patrick Boyd
Patrick is a skilled senior architect whose experience includes a broad range of residential, commercial and masterplanning projects.
Sebastian Drayson
Seb is an associate with experience across a range of sectors, predominantly in the delivery of large, high-quality schemes within the residential and student residential sectors.
At Buttress, he is currently supporting the development of an affordable housing scheme in Ancoats, Manchester.
Tammy Welz
Tammy brings a passion for well-executed, beautiful and practical design to each project she is involved in, from hotel developments to city centre apartment schemes.
Prior to joining Buttress, Tammy spent three years in South Africa, where she worked for a practice that specialised in luxury family homes – an experience to which she credits her interest in the cultural and environmental influences on design outcomes.
Heather Leeson
Heather is an associate with experience across a broad range of commercial sectors, including workplaces, retail, hospitality and hotels.
At Buttress, she is currently supporting the development of a number of significant commercial schemes.
