We're Hiring: Assistant Heritage Consultant

We are looking for an assistant heritage consultant to join our heritage consultancy team.

Buttress is looking for an early career Heritage Consultant to support our busy national team.

You will join a small team that makes a big impact. You will be working closely with our architectural colleagues in Manchester and Leeds on Buttress projects and providing advice and guidance to clients across the country.

The role is ideal for someone who wants to use their interests and skills to contribute to the sustainable management and creative development of the historic built environment. Buttress recognise the value of existing context in creating places, and we take pride in the real-life impact of the work we do.

Work will mostly be within the Manchester and Leeds areas although occasional longer distance travel and overnight stays may be necessary.

About you

Person Specification

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in a related discipline.
  • 0-3 years’ experience in a relevant role.
  • Demonstrable interest in the historic built environment.
  • You aren’t afraid to ask questions and are happy to ask for help.

 

Competencies

  • Authenticity: able to gain the trust of others and consistently act with integrity
  • Detailed: Strong research capabilities, desktop and archive.
  • Informative and clear writing style.
  • Experience using GIS tools.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the British planning system.
  • Knowledge and understanding of heritage significance, in accordance with Historic England guidance.

Salary

£24,500 - £29,500 subject to experience
