Buttress is joining some of the world’s leading design institutes in supporting this year’s GLAM (Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Architecture and Me) Goes Global event.

Held on 17-18th July, this free online workshop will invite students from across North and South America, the Caribbean, Asia, Europe and throughout the UK to draw upon their own design sensibilities and cultivate their individual sense of aesthetics. Through experimentation and testing students will use the body as the main structural frame to create a piece of ‘wearable architecture’. Participating students also will be encouraged to express designs that are particular to their own country, place of residence or situation and use recycled materials to promote resourceful design.

During the course of the workshop, students will have the opportunity to connect with architects and fashion tutors from around the world who will offer free advice and support in breakout rooms. Other sponsors of this year’s event include, the Pratt Institute New York, the RIBA, and the Royal College of Art.

GLAM is the brainchild of Neil Pinder of HomeGrown Plus, an agency championing aspiring architects who may otherwise face barriers to the architectural profession. Neil has taught in several inner-city schools for over 25 years and is currently Head of Product Design at Graveney School in south London, where he introduced architecture into the curriculum.
