Buttress is proud to sponsor PlanBEE Manchester, a new and unique two-year higher apprenticeship programme in Design, Construction and Management.
Developed by Manchester City Council, Manchester Life, Ryder Architecture, and Gateshead College, the programme will prepare young people for a career in building design and construction with a strong emphasis on digital skills and collaborative working.
It builds on both the successful M-Futures Higher Apprenticeship in Construction Management and the nationally award-winning PlanBEE programme which has been running successfully in the North East for five years. By bringing together the two programmes, PlanBEE Manchester provides a unique training opportunity and excellent career prospects.
Apprentices will rotate around different partners working on a range of projects across the City of Manchester and wider region. This will include Buttress projects, Eliza Yard and Ancoats Mobility Hub, which forms part of the next phase of the regeneration of Ancoats and New Islington.
During these rotations, apprentices will gain knowledge in building design, design process, construction technology, digital skills, health and safety and building performance alongside transferable skills like team working, leadership, innovation and communication. Those participating will also spend one day a week studying and developing their knowledge through a combination of lectures, tutorials, field work and site visits.
The programme is open to anyone aged 18 and over with a passion for design, construction, and leadership. More information can be found here.
