Buttress is helping students across the UK gain new heritage skills by sponsoring the student bursary package at this year's Heritage Trust Network (HTN) conference.

The sponsorship will help encourage the next generation of heritage professionals to get themselves networked into the HTN's thriving and crucial grassroots building preservation sector by enabling 10 students or young people under the age of 25 to attend conference free of charge, and by providing a contribution towards their travel.

To be held at The Engine Shed in Stirling, Scotland, from 19-20 November, the theme of this year's Heritage Trust Network conference 'Skills' and the conference will address the many and varied skills needed to successfully run a heritage building preservation project today.

The first day will focus on helping delegates get their project off the ground. Day two, will explore the skills needed to manage a project on site, how to work well with volunteers and communities, and making the most of heritage assets after the building works are completed.

The HTN is a nationwide organisation which provides advice and resources to Heritage Trust's operating across the UK. The HTN operates throughout the United Kingdom, drawing together and supporting the work of local heritage groups, whether constituted as building preservation trusts, community trusts or social enterprises.

Predominantly run by professional volunteers, it provides an invaluable platform for members by way of peer-to-peer support, knowledge sharing and skills development. The Heritage Trust Network also gives this grassroots movement a united voice, representing their views to government and funding bodies.

Buttress will also be exhibiting at the conference. Senior Heritage Consultant, Jenna Johnston and Associate Director, Stephen Anderson will be attending. To arrange a meeting, talk to the team below.
