Buttress is joining The Churches Conservation Trust’s (CCT) Great National Steeple Chase.
To mark its 50th anniversary, the CCT is celebrating by challenging its Chief Executive, Peter Aiers, to visit 50 of its churches in 50 hours. Peter will start his journey in Portland, Dorset on Thursday 25th July before travelling up the country to The CCT’s most northerly churches and back down to finish in London on Saturday 27th July.
To fulfil the journey, Peter will be drawing on the help of volunteers to transport him and his team between each of the 50 churches.
Senior Architect and CCT Term Architect, Edward Kepczyk, and Director, Stephen Anderson, will be lending their support on the Lancashire leg of Peter’s journey. They will join him at All Souls’, Bolton in the early hours of Friday 26th before travelling to Holy Trinity, Blackburn and then onto St. Leonard’s, Old Langho.
The Churches Conservation Trust is the national charity saving historic churches at risk and cares for more than 350 English churches of architectural, cultural and historic significance. The Great National Steeple Chase will not only celebrate the charity's anniversary, but it will also help The CCT raise urgently needed funds to defend and protect churches in its care from heritage crime.
