Opportunity available for a Heritage Consultancy Intern

We have a new opportunity for a paid intern to support our Heritage Consultancy team on a 3 month contract.

With demonstrable interest in the historic built environment, you will support our Heritage Consultancy team in working on both specialist heritage aspects of internal projects, and in working for external clients where Buttress are appointed as Heritage Consultants.

Preferably you will have good research skills and an understanding of the planning process and statutory guidance.

In this role you will gain first hand experience by supporting our team with desktop and archival research, on-site inspections, and preparing or contributing to relevant documents, including but not limited to:

• Statements of significance

• Heritage statements

• Heritage assessments

• Conservation Plans

• Management and Maintenance Plans

• Gazetteers

• Environmental Impact Assessment contributions

• Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans

• Design Reviews

• Prepare documents to accompany applications for statutory approvals.

Used to collaborative working in a team you can contribute positively also taking forward projects in a self-directed manner. We welcome candidates that are keen to learn and unafraid to ask questions.

We anticipate that the role will principally be supporting early stages of projects, around research and analysis, with the opportunity to contribute to strategic documents.
The intern role is suitable for students, with no requirement for a completed degree, or advanced degree.
Buttress are currently operating on a hybrid in-person and working from home model. The successful candidate will be required to be in the studio 3 days a week, but they have the option to attend 5 days if preferable.

This is a fixed term, full time contract for 3 months with a salary of £1600 pcm.

Ideally, you will be available for an immediate start.
