Buttress’ Heritage Consultancy team has expanded with the appointment of Freya Needham as a Heritage Consultant.

Freya has joined the practice following the completion of a master’s degree in Cultural Heritage Management at the University of Sheffield, during which she produced a thesis on sustainable applications of heritage and the use of historic buildings and assets in the creative regeneration of town centres. She also holds a first-class degree in archaeology and before joining Buttress completed a voluntary placement with the Peak District National Park’s planning department.

At Buttress she will work alongside Senior Heritage Consultant, Jenna Johnston, to support a growing portfolio of heritage consultancy projects. Current projects being handled by the team include an update of the Conservation Management Plan for World Heritage Site Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and heritage advice for a number of High Street Heritage Action Zone projects.

Commenting on the appointment, Jenna Johnston, Senior Heritage Consultant, said: “Over the past few years, demand for our heritage consultancy services has continued to grow. Freya’s appointment will enable us to meet this demand and provide clients and design teams with the guidance and expertise they need to make effective choices when it comes to managing their historic buildings and sites.”
