Buttress promotes seven within its Manchester and Leeds studios

Buttress has announced a number of key promotions to its Manchester and Leeds based teams. 

James Lewis, based in Leeds, has been promoted to associate to spearhead additional projects and growth in Yorkshire. Senior heritage consultant Jenna Johnston will also be made associate and continue to grow the heritage consultancy sector, providing clients with the resources and specialist knowledge to better understand their heritage assets.  Senior technologist Alex Scrimshaw has been promoted to associate and will continue to work within the practice’s historic buildings team. 

Two people will be promoted to associate director. Ben Tabineran architect and regeneration specialist who works in the design and delivery of projects across a range of sectors, including award-winning residential, community and educational schemes.  Edward Kepczyk who specialises in the conservation informed repair, and creative reuse of secular and ecclesiastical buildings, including some of the country’s most significant historic sites.

Chithra Marsh and Matthew Burl have each been promoted to directors.  Alongside her architectural role, Chithra is responsible for coordinating and strengthening Buttress’ social value initiatives, as well as championing cultural diversity within the practice and leading its health and wellbeing initiatives.  She has recently been appointed as National Chair for Women in Property. Matthew Burl is an experienced architect who has led the successful delivery of numerous new build and refurbishment projects across a range of cultural, academic and community-led sectors.  Matthew also led on Buttress’ recent B Corp certification which is a commitment to continuing improvement to a triple-bottom-line approach balancing profit, people, and the planet.
