Located on a six-acre site in Moss Side, The Depot is a major residential scheme that forms the next step in Manchester City Council’s wider regeneration strategy for the area.
The plans aim to increase the choice of tenure found locally to help make the neighbourhood an area of choice for families and Manchester’s growing population.

The proposals will deliver 258 homes including 204 one to three-bedroom apartments, 72 of which will be retirement living apartments, and 54 two and three-storey family homes.
The design intends to repair the ruptured existing urban grain and to integrate with the existing street patterns. The designs are at a scale and of a materiality that respects the typography of local late Victorian homes, while enriching the streetscape through restrained contrasting building forms and materials.
The plans also seek to establish well defined private and communal spaces. The proposed housing provides all principal rooms with direct access to private gardens. The new apartments will be provided with private landscaped parking courts, while the retirement living development will be built around, and focus upon, a private communal landscaped court, screened by hedges and trees for privacy.
