India Buildings
The development of a Conservation Management Plan to assist in the building's future management.

Buttress undertook a Conservation Management Plan (CMP) at the Grade II listed India Buildings, a privately owned commercial building dating from the 1920s, in Liverpool’s World Heritage Site.
The CMP is intended to assist in the future management of the India Buildings, which are Grade II* listed, inform the development of policies for both the conservation of its historic fabric, and to set parameters for future development and refurbishment. In doing so, this report addressed the significance of the building's fabric (both historic and subsequent alterations), the vulnerability of significant aspects and from there, developed a reasoned approach to future policies.

Further to the CMP we also oversaw the redevelopment of the 5th floor (£1.25M fit-out) and identified options for development and maintenance throughout the building. The upper floors were identified as appropriate for conversion to open floor plans to enable more flexible speculative office development within the building, whilst lower floors retain the smaller office and corridor layout and retain the integrity of the original design.
Other work has included the refurbishment of the second floor with small starter units, proposals for a café and revolving doors to the ground floor retail arcade, and a planning application for the 6th floor following the successful precedent of the 5th.
