Bowes Street
The regeneration of Bowes Street, Moss Side, in partnership with Manchester City Council.
-
Working in partnership with Manchester City Council, we created a masterplan to reinstate and develop this area of Moss Side, with the underlying aims of delivering higher specification housing and promoting diversified tenure to create a neighbourhood of choice.

The first phase of refurbishment works were undertaken to 141 terraced properties across the Bowes Street area, including the creation of 10 new 2 into 1 remodelled three and four bed family houses.
Works to non-council owned properties included new windows, roof repair, structural and brickwork repair, re-pointing and new rainwater goods, while council owned properties were subject to holistic refurbishment. One of five new internal layouts were applied to the houses during the refurbishment, which would dictate the resale value and mortgage model for the completed development.

The second phase of the scheme was the creation of six eye catching three and four bed detached houses which form the street front to Bowes Street itself. These new houses articulate the edge of the developed area and set a precedent to promote the regeneration of the wider masterplan. The design complements by contrasting with the existing, and creates a strong visual identity for the newly regenerated area.
