The redevelopment of Hilton House has been shortlisted for ‘Commercial Re-fit and Refurbishment of the Year’ at this year’s North West Insider Property Awards.
Designed by renowned 1960s architect, Richard Seifert, Hilton House in Manchester’s Northern Quarter had been left untouched since its construction, was in considerably poor condition, and largely unoccupied.
We worked with CERT Property to overhaul the building to allow it to cater for today’s commercial market place.
The interior has been transformed with diving walls removed and an extension added to the upper two floor to provide a total 37,000 sq ft high-quality office space. Paying homage to the building’s history, a number of its original internal features, including its parquet flooring, terracotta ceilings and distinctive spiral staircase have also been restored.
Externally, the building envelope has been completely upgraded, with its existing windows replaced with floor to ceiling glazing. On ground floor level, poor quality wood panelling has been removed and full height glazing has been installed to create an active street frontage, while a new entrance on Hilton Street has also been created.
Over the past two decades, the Insider Property Awards North West has become the go-to commercial property event. More than 1,000 people attend each year, with the biggest names in property development gathering to celebrate the region's biggest success stories. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a ceremony held at Manchester Central on 2nd October 2020.
