Buttress is helping young people gain new heritage skills by sponsoring the student bursary at this year's Heritage Trust Network (HTN) annual conference.
The HTN is a nationwide organisation which provides advice and resources to heritage trusts operating across the UK, whether constituted as a building preservation trust, community trust or social enterprise.
Predominantly run by professional volunteers, it provides an invaluable platform for members by way of peer-to-peer support, knowledge sharing and skills development. The HTN also gives this grassroots movement a united voice, representing their views to government and funding bodies.
This will be the third consecutive year that Buttress has sponsored the student bursary, which will allow students to attend the conference free of charge.
Attending the conference from Buttress will be Senior Heritage Consultant, Jenna Johnston, and Stephen Anderson, a Director at the practice and Chair of the HTN’s North West branch. Both Jenna and Stephen will be on hand to provide delegates with advice on how they can manage their heritage assets and get their heritage projects off the ground.
This year’s conference will be held at the Guildhall in Derry, Northern Ireland from 17 – 19 November. The theme of the conference is ‘Heritage Transforming Neighbourhoods’ and will feature workshops and speakers that will focus on how rural and urban areas across the UK can sustainably revive their high streets.
