28th January 2019

Judges commended how the scheme "seamlessly integrates within its location."

Awards
  • Carpino Place, our 22-home development for in Salford for The English Cities Fund, has been awarded Small Housing Development of the Year at this year's Insider North West Residential Property Awards.

Following a record number of entries, Carpino Place – a selection of three and four-bedroom townhouses, which sold entirely off plan, took home the gold after beating off stiff competition.

Planned as a complementary addition to the ongoing redevelopment of the surrounding area, each block has been designed to sit harmoniously alongside existing buildings and provide a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional, Victorian townhouse found across Salford.

Taking reference from the scale, grain and materials of adjacent historic and new developments, the scheme knits into and enhances the streetscape and strengthens the urban setting of Oldfield Road.

Within the development, residents have access to a communal courtyard space via rear gardens or locked pedestrian and vehicle routes; and all houses have private gardens and / or roof terraces. The historic cobbled Wroe Street and South Willliams Street have also been restored to provide a shared surface, which retains the historic street pattern and treatment.

Commenting on the win, Andy Avery, director at Buttress, said: “We are delighted that Carpino Place has been awarded this accolade, judged by our peers in the property industry. The scheme not only provides much needed, well-designed homes, but also complements and adds to the wider regeneration of the area.”

Phil Mayall, regional director at The English Cities Fund, said: “The Insider North West Residential Property Awards are one of the best up and coming awards for the residential sector in the region, so we are of course very proud for Carpino Place to win Best Small Development.

“Our schemes across the North West have progressed considerably over the past 12 months and we look forward to contributing further to the success of the region in 2019.”

The English Cities Fund is a strategic joint venture between Homes England, Legal & General and national mixed-use development and urban regeneration specialists, Muse Developments.

Launched in 2016, the Insider North West Residential Property Awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of the region’s residential sector.
