A planning application and Heritage Lottery Fund round two bid have been submitted for Blackpool Museum, marking a major step forward for the project.
The plans propose the creation of permanent exhibition space within the Horseshoe and Pavilion areas of the town’s Grade II* listed Winter Gardens.
The museum will showcase artefacts, film, music and performance, that together will tell the story of the famous seaside resort and its role in the development of British popular culture.
The application also sets out plans to partially remove storage buildings on Adelaide Street to create a new visitor entrance and reveal the full architectural impact of the 140-year-old Pavilion.
The redevelopment of the Pavilion will also see the building and its historic features conserved, enhanced, and adapted.
